You may have seen the news that dental practices can open from Monday June 8th, and we have been informed that dental practices can now see patients face to face from the 8th of June. This was announced on 28th of May at somewhat short notice given the preparation required. Reopening will happen in a phased manner and so we can follow social distancing and cross infection guidelines and also suitably recommission the building as well as bring the staff back and update / train staff as required. The full ‘Standard Operating Procedures’ from NHS England are being released soon. We would urge all of our patients kindly not to contact the Practice to re-book just yet until advised otherwise.
Please be assured that we are working very hard to get ready for re-opening . Graham and Denise have been planning and preparing behind the scenes for some weeks now to reopen but we are still some way from being able to return to work and operate the practice 100% properly and safely. We will endeavour when we reopen to see as many patients as we can safely. We have to make sure the practice is safe for staff and patients alike and request you to bear with us, during this phased reopening as it requires some forethought, planning and now that we have been given the green light over the coming weeks execution
We need to balance routine appointments with all the urgent problems that have built up during the covid period, another factor is the supply of PPE which is a national issue. New cross infection and social distancing regulations mean that going to the dentist will be a very different experience for the foreseeable future (announcement to follow on this and our anticipated reopening date via notices posted on the practice door and on our Facebook / Instagram and website i.e. as to how we will be operating and what your patient journey will now be like in the post-Covid environment). Notably appointments themselves and preparing the building and cleaning down in between appointments will take longer – hence fewer appointments will be available initially however as started we will be working longer hours to combat this.
Can we genuinely and sincerely thank you for your patience during the Covid 19 period and as we push ahead and become again operational over the next month – can we also ask for your patience as we get used to our new way of working and politely ask you kindly don’t flood us with calls – we know you’re waiting and we will do everything we can to systematically recall patients in priority order and work extra hours to address any wait time.
We request that all patients please hold off calling us to make appointments for routine health checks or treatment as we will be working through this. Please for now until advised otherwise only call if you have an urgent issue. We look forward to seeing you again imminently, but bear with us as we look to help those most in need and please be understanding if anything is a little ‘clunky’ until we refine and streamline our new workflow.
Our phone line is open as usual for urgent concerns and telephone triage , but until staff are back and we are fully back in the building it diverts to Graham’s mobile so please be patient if Graham needs to call you back which he will do and will work through the calls in order and ASAP. We will still be doing telephone triage and assess our patients needs and provide advice as appropriate. Until advised otherwise we are unable to see anyone without a prior appointment. Please do not visit the practice, all initial contact please will have to be made by telephone to 0191 2520554 or email to appointments@CFEDental.co.uk.
We will keep you updated regularly. Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to welcoming you all back and striving to provide you with excellent service and care going forwards. Kindest regards and our very best wishes, Graham, Denise, Jade, Caroline & Sarah – The CFE Dental team.
